Who were Fortitude Clinical?
Fortitude Clinical was a Contract Research Organisation, located in Singapore, that offered pharmacogenomically tailored CRO services in South East Asia. The firm had been built on the earlier efforts of its directors’ site management consulting services which had been established since 2008. The firm was powered by European investment, however during the European economic crisis in 2012, the firm’s investors were adversely affected and could no longer continue to fund the organisation. On the 28th of June 2012, the firm publicly announced its closure and the start of its liquidation.
How established was the firm?
At its peak the firm had offices in three countries, employed 22 members of staff, and operated three separate business divisions, focusing on CRO Services, SMO services, and Market Intelligence activities. Connected to its SMO services was a dedicated research clinic in the Philippines, which was the first of its kind in the region. The firm’s directors were responsible for bringing the first clinical trial to Tarlac Province in Northern Luzon, a landlocked agricultural province in the Philippines and contributed majorly to GCP awareness in the region.
Tell me more about the Research Centre?
The FDRCP research centre located in Manila, Philippines, was a specialist self-contained medical clinic, funded by Fortitude Clinical, for the sole purpose of conducting commercial clinical research in South East Asian patient populations. The clinic was a novel and groundbreaking initiative, and was fully accredited by the FEU-NRMF Ethics committee. The clinic employed 15 members of staff and contained its own pharmacy, laboratory, and patient treatment facilities.
Why does this page exist?
Fortitude Clinical was a recognised brand associated with high quality clinical research. Although the firm has commenced the liquidation process, there are a number of parties that still have ongoing interests associated with the brand. Whilst these interests remain outstanding it is important to maintain the brand’s integrity and to also provide a contact point for further information. This page acts in that capacity until such time as those interests have been resolved.
